Oct. 21. Rockland, Maine

Rockland, population 8000, is home to the Maine Lobster Festival, a celebration held annually in honor of the town's main export: lobster. We visited the Farnsworth Art Museum and its  Wyeth Center  dedicated to the three generations of Wyeths: N.C., Andrew, and James Wyeth. Great museum in spite of being in such a small town. Had a great lunch at a friendly local joint, Brass Compass Cafe. What a great Lobster Caesar Salad.  Julius Caesar never had it so good!

Christina's World by Andrew Wyeth
Christina was the model for Wyeth when he painted the painting. She was in fact crippled by polio and could not walk even if she tried. Some say the painting is about longing and loneliness and wanting to escape.   Below is a 3 minute video about Andrew Wyeth.
